The Tokyo Stock Exchange announced the launch of the TSE Asia Startup Hub on March 25, 2024.
The TSE Asia Startup Hub aims to create an ecosystem that fosters startup growth, focusing on promising Asian companies with ties to Japan, to support business expansion in Japan and partnerships with Japanese firms. This will in turn support IPOs on TSE as one of the outcomes.
Since the announcement of this initiative, the TSE has received highly positive responses regarding its value from a wide range of stakeholders including securities companies, audit firms, banks, law firms, media organizations, and venture capitalists. With 52 organizations from Japan and overseas signing up as partners and four as observers, the TSE has established a comprehensive support system for Asian companies.
In this context, today the TSE has selected 14 companies, including a so-called unicorn, from six countries/regions (Singapore, Taiwan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam) as companies to be supported. These companies belong to promising industries such as drones, healthcare, AI, IoT, SaaS, FinTech, inbound tourism, and content provision, and aim to grow their businesses through expanding dealings with Japanese customers.
Going forward, the TSE, together with its partners, will provide support tailored to the needs of the Supported Companies, including business and fundraising assistance in Japan as well as IPO support.
