DeNA Establishes JPY 5bn Delight Ventures Builder Fund III

DeNA's Board of Directors has approved the establishment of and investment in the Delight Ventures Builder III Investment Limited Partnership (ILP).

Background

DeNA is an “eternal venture,” and proactively takes on the challenge of creating new businesses. To achieve this, in addition to initiatives in each of its businesses and M&A, DeNA also has the Venture Builder segment in Delight Ventures, the DeNA Group fund.

Delight Ventures’ Venture Builder provides support for entrepreneur candidates from both within and outside DeNA. DeNA is involved from the earliest stages through the growth period, and acts as a partner providing proactive support, including providing personnel and knowhow.

DeNA leverage this option strategically, sometimes receiving capital gains from invested companies, sometimes through M&A at market value, and sometimes by bringing a venture into the DeNA Group as a new business.

This initiative is making steady progress, and already 21 startups have been produced. Delight Ventures’ Venture Investment has also invested in many DeNA alumni who are proactively leveraging the programs and taking on entrepreneurial challenges.

Objective of Delight Venture Builder III ILP

DeNA Group is currently strengthening initiatives related to AI under the policy of AI-ALL-IN, aiming for medium to long term growth centered on AI. In line with this, DeNA has resolved to make an investment in Delight Venture Builder III ILP, a fund specializing in investments in AI domain.

To date, through investments in the Group’s funds, Delight Ventures I ILP and Delight Ventures Builder II ILP, DeNA has promoted the venture builder business, contributing to the creation of new businesses, the development of a robust talent foundation, the revitalization of the startup and innovation ecosystem, and the cultivation of an entrepreneurial culture.

Moving forward, DeNA Group will maximize the capabilities of startups and entrepreneurs to foster innovation and drive growth.
