Infcurion Tapped by SMBC Group to Power Invoice Digitization and Card Payment Features in Corporate Finance Platform ‘Trunk’
Infcurion has announced its formal participation as a design and development partner for "Trunk," a comprehensive digital financial service for corporate clients operated by Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMBC Group).
Infcurion is integrating new functionality into the platform that leverages its proprietary "Winvoice" infrastructure. This integration is designed to streamline payment processes for businesses by combining automated invoice data extraction with credit card payment capabilities.
Strategic Integration Following Capital Alliance
The collaboration stems from a capital and business alliance established between Infcurion and SMBC Group in September 2024. As the demand for integrated banking, payment, and financing solutions grows—particularly among Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) seeking operational efficiency and liquidity—Infcurion has been tasked with architecting the backend systems that underpin "Trunk’s" payment modernization.
Key Features: Automation and Flexibility
Infcurion’s contribution focuses on two primary technical enhancements:
- Invoice Digitization (OCR): The system automatically reads and extracts critical data—such as payee bank details, billing amounts, and payment deadlines—from received invoices, significantly reducing manual data entry errors.
- Card Payment Functionality: Built upon Infcurion's "Winvoice" invoice card payment platform, this feature allows users to settle invoices via credit card. This provides businesses with an alternative to traditional bank transfers, offering greater flexibility in cash flow management.
Executive Commentary
Hiroki Maruyama, CEO of Infcurion, highlighted the necessity of digitalizing "daily money management" in a frictionless manner. "The 'Trunk' service provided by SMBC Group is an initiative that supports payments and finance as a unified whole, anchored by the bank account," Maruyama stated. "By embedding payment experiences naturally into daily operations, we aim to contribute to the efficiency of payment tasks and the improvement of cash flow flexibility."
Maruyama further indicated that this is a long-term strategic play, noting that Infcurion is designing a "comprehensive payment and settlement foundation" intended to support the future expansion of financial services within the Trunk ecosystem.
Service Structure
While Infcurion is providing the underlying design and development support, particularly for the invoice payment modules, the "Trunk" service itself, including account functions and financial products, remains under the purview of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and Sumitomo Mitsui Card Company.
