Money Forward Functions to be Integrated into SMBC Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Card Apps
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Sumitomo Mitsui Card and Money Forward Home have decided to integrate the asset management functions of the money visualization service "Money Forward ME" into the "Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation App" provided by SMBC and the "Sumitomo Mitsui Card Vpass App" provided by Sumitomo Mitsui Card, starting in March 2026.
Background of This Decision
This decision is part of the initiatives outlined in the "Basic Agreement on Capital and Business Alliance in Personal Business between Money Forward and Sumitomo Mitsui Card" announced on July 17, 2024. The purpose is to further enhance customer experience by introducing the asset management functions, which are Money Forward ME's strengths, to customers of the "Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation App" and "Sumitomo Mitsui Card Vpass App."
Service Launch Schedule
With an app update in early March 2026, the household budget management functions currently provided within the "Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation App" and "Sumitomo Mitsui Card Vpass App" will be discontinued and migrated to new functions that can be used in coordination with "Money Forward ME." Service details will be announced again at the time of service launch.
Service Overview After Money Forward ME Integration
By linking the "Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation App" or "Sumitomo Mitsui Card Vpass App" with "Money Forward ME," account statuses of financial services linked to "Money Forward ME" will be displayed in a list, allowing users to easily grasp their total assets through the app. Additionally, if the balance is insufficient for credit card payments, an alert will notify users and suggest ways to prepare for insufficient balance.
In the "Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation App," in addition to being able to check total assets and day-over-day comparison on the app, users will be able to manage accounts held at various financial institutions in a list view on the account list screen. Furthermore, a function is planned that will enable seamless fund transfers across financial institutions through intuitive operations such as drag and drop.

In the "Sumitomo Mitsui Card Vpass App," by linking bank and securities accounts, credit cards, as well as online shopping and online supermarkets in use to "Money Forward ME," users can manage account balances and usage amounts collectively. Additionally, users will be able to check payment account balances along with credit card payment amounts on the app home screen.
Going forward, SMBC, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, and Money Forward Home will continue to contribute to enhancing financial experiences toward the realization of a "customer-oriented 'open money platform.'"
