SBI Digital Markets Successfully Launched Luxury Wine Structured Notes in Korea and Thailand

SBI Digital Markets has successfully launched its first tranche of luxury wine structured notes in Korea and Thailand, with an exclusive selection of fine wines acquired directly from prestigious chateaus in Bordeaux and Burgundy, France, and Piedmont, Italy. The notes were fully subscribed in Korea by Kyobo Life Insurance and Kyobo Securities, marking a first in the country; and in Thailand by Token X, a subsidiary of Thailand’s financial conglomerate SCBX. In addition, Kyobo Life Insurance continues to strengthen its strategic partnership with SBI Group at the group level, jointly laying the foundation for the expansion of the digital asset ecosystem.

Structured by SBIDM and issued out of Guernsey, the notes were sold within a private placement in Switzerland, demonstrating cross-jurisdictional execution capabilities. Prior to maturity, the underlying wine bottles from five different chateaus have been professionally audited, insured and stored in a secure, bonded warehouse, ensuring institutional-grade custody standards.

Token X has launched Thailand’s first tokenised offshore niche asset, offered exclusively to accredited investors. This milestone establishes a new asset class in the Thai market while broadening access to global niche assets under institutional-grade oversight.

Winston Quek, Chief Executive Officer of SBI Digital Markets, said: “This year, SBI Digital Markets has focused its efforts on driving commercial adoption of digital assets by architecting regulation-compliant frameworks and infrastructure to support the end-to-end flow of tokenised securities. Today's successful launch proves that Asia's institutional investors are ready to embrace tokenised alternatives when presented with proper regulatory structure and operational excellence. We have an ambitious pipeline of real-world asset products in development, and this successful launch serves as our foundation for expanding into intellectual property and other alternative asset classes.”

The innovative structuring and distribution of fine wines across multiple jurisdictions and in different formats represents the opportunity for the capitalisation of real-world assets through tokenisation – in turn increasing their liquidity, enabling fractional ownership, and creating more efficient management and trading on-chain.
