SMBC Group Establishes Joint Venture Company for Insurance Agency Business

Ginsen, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company, and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group have agreed to establish a jointly invested insurance agency business company on April 1, 2026.

1. Purpose of Establishing the New Company

Against the backdrop of problems such as fraudulent insurance claims and insurance premium adjustment practices in the non-life insurance industry, and amid significant changes in the market environment, the three companies will establish a jointly invested insurance agency business company with the aim of leading further development of the insurance industry through the realization of a sound competitive environment.

2. Vision for the New Company

Leveraging the strengths and characteristics of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and SMBC Group, the partners will build an industry-leading structure that accurately responds to changes in the market environment and regulatory revisions while providing customers with the highest standard of quality and services.

Furthermore, by integrating the insurance agency business with the financial capabilities of SMBC Group, the partners aim to further enhance their ability to provide risk management services for corporations and services for individuals, primarily employees of companies, thereby leading the insurance industry.

3. Overview of the New Company (Planned)

The insurance agency business of Ginsen and the corporate business division of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Agency Service, a 100% subsidiary of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance, will be integrated and established as a consolidated subsidiary of Ginsen and an equity-method affiliate of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance.
