Global Brain continues to partner with Sony Financial Ventures on its second corporate venture capital fund
Global Brain and Sony Financial Ventures have jointly established “SFV･GB II L.P.” (SFV･GB II).
The “SFV･GB L.P.” (fund size: JPY 5 billion, “SFV･GB”) was established in 2018 to make strategic investments into promising Fintech startups across the world which have the potential of collaborating with business units of Sony Financial Group and also startups which can potentially lead to new business development in Sony Financial Group. SFV･GB invested in 20 startups in Japan, Europe, North America, etc. in Fintech, Insurtech, healthcare, AI, mobility, and other fields. Through the activities of SFV･GB, the two companies have established business collaborations between startups and Sony Financial Group, while also exploring new business models and technology for the future.
To enhance their initiatives, the two companies have established SFV･GB II as the successor fund to SFV･GB, also with a JPY 5 billion fund size. This will further accelerate their open innovation with startups, leveraging the broad knowledge of the financial businesses of Sony Financial Group.
As the General Partner of SFV･GB II, Global Brain will find promising startups, make investment decisions, and provide a wide range of support to startups which the fund invests in, striving to achieve rapid growth of the startups.
