Hakuhodo has partnered with Tools for Humanity, a key company in the Worldcoin project.

The Worldcoin Project is an effort to create the tools humans need to prepare for the evolution of AI. Co-invented by Sam Altman, Alex Brania, and Max Novenstern, the project aims to improve online trust by distinguishing humans and AI with a World ID, and to build a global economic ecosystem in which only humans can receive currency and services. Tools For Humanity, a company co-founded by Alex Brania and Sam Altman, is promoting the project.

The “World ID” issued by participating in this project is a digital passport that can prove that you are a human online while protecting your personal privacy. This identification method uses an iris recognition device called “Orb” developed by Tools for Humanity. By obtaining a World ID, companies can prevent problems such as fraudulent applications from multiple accounts using AI, and form games and communities that only humans can participate in.

Currently, over 6 million people around the world have authenticated World ID, and in Japan, a proof-of-concept experiment to test Tools for Humanity and the service’s acceptability to consumers has been conducted at Hakuhodo JV Studio since December 2023. Following the success of this testing period, Hakuhodo has decided to partner with the company to expand World ID’s services in Japan. First of all, Hakuhodo believes it is important to make more people aware of World ID, and they aim to increase awareness of it as an important tool for an era in which it may become difficult to distinguish between humans and AI.

AI-based technology is becoming indispensable in our daily lives these days. However, with the rapid evolution of technology, how we utilize AI has become a major issue that will determine the future of humanity.

Through the spread of World ID, Hakuhodo will work towards realizing a society in which AI and humans can coexist.
