Simplex Partners with SBI Life to Deploy Generative AI in Core Digital Modernization Drive
Simplex, the core operating unit of Tokyo-listed financial technology firm Simplex Holdings (TSE Prime: 4373), has entered into a strategic collaboration with SBI Life Insurance to deploy generative artificial intelligence across its system modernization initiatives.
Under the agreement, the two companies will implement an AI-Driven Development (AiDD) model to overhaul SBI Life’s corporate website. The initiative embeds generative AI throughout the entire software lifecycle—spanning requirements definition, architecture design, coding, and testing—in an effort to streamline development turnaround times while strengthening software quality.
The corporate site revamp serves as a cornerstone of SBI Life’s broader "AI Transformation" (AX) strategy, through which the digital-first insurer aims to evolve into an "AI-native" carrier. Alongside AI adoption, the technical scope includes modernizing application frameworks, executing a cloud migration that involves domain restructuring, and standardizing security governance and operational controls.
The project pairs SBI Life’s underwriting assets and industry workflows with Simplex’s proprietary "AI-Native Delivery" framework. Simplex has aggressively expanded its AI delivery footprint over the past three years, establishing a specialized Generative AI Competency unit in July 2023, rolling out its "Simplex Siphon" development framework in April 2026, and launching the "Simplex AI Accelerator" enterprise consulting service in July 2026. Under Simplex's model, automated systems handle routine programming tasks under predefined prompts and templates, while engineers focus primarily on architectural oversight, code reviews, and quality assurance.
Looking ahead, Simplex and SBI Life indicated they will use the operational findings from the corporate website overhaul to evaluate expanding generative AI-assisted development across additional segments of SBI Life's core business architecture.
